The weight loss/get healthier/more fit journey is a long one.  As in a lifetime type journey.  And, as anyone who has struggled with weight issues it’s often a bumpy and unforgiving one at that.  That’s part of the reason why I write this blog.  It’s just a few minutes of my day where I can write down my struggles, triumphs, or even just whine about how I am feeling.  It doesn’t matter if anyone actually reads it, or not.  I wrote it down and expressed whatever feelings I was having on that particular day at that particular time.

With writing this blog I have found lots of encouragement from you, my readers.  I can’t tell you what it means to me when you comment on a post, whether it’s to ask a question, give advice, or give a “well done”.  It makes my day, and so for that Thank You!  Along, with the comments I get from you, I’ve also found other places that have helped encourage, motivate me, and give me the push to keep going when I want to quit.

Fit Bottomed Girls is a new one I just discovered, I wrote about their book that I am currently reading and plunging into 250%.  I’ve been working on the 10 minute fixes that they gave for Ditching the Diet Drama, and well I have to say it really is making me more self-aware of things that I have been doing that may not have been self sabotaging, although some of them certainly have been, but they definitely haven’t been beneficial to helping me become the best that I can be.  You can read my post here.  And. if you’re interested in finding more about Fit Bottomed Girls you can check them out here.  They are pretty cool, lots of information, and even some giveaways.  Quick if you head over there right now you can even enter todays giveaway.

I am a fitbit junkie, which I’ve talked about on numerous occasions, and well I am not going to bore you with more of that.  However, I will tell you I joined the Fitbit Friends group on Facebook, and these people in the group ROCK!  Super supportive, there is always someone there to give an encouraging word and some motivation when you need.  Advice, well they offer that up too.  I love being part of a group where I don’t feel horrible posting a picture of my before alongside my after.  Heck, I don’t even think I have posted one on here yet.  I love seeing the transformations people are making in their lives to become healthier and more fit.  If you have a fitbit, and even if you don’t but are thinking about get one check out the group, you’ll be amazed at how welcoming and supportive they all are.  Plus, I can’t tell you how many ideas I have gotten for increasing my steps, becoming more active in my daily life, and a million other little things.

Then of course there is Pinterest, which I haven’t been spending nearly as much time on as I once used to.  Hey, it’s ok I am being way more active now, so I don’t have as much time to get sucked into the Pinterest vortex, which is okay with me.  But, on those days where I am just not motivated to do it, or I get frustrated or down on myself I head on over to Pinterest and do a little weight loss or exercise motivation search, and the stuff that comes up always helps me out.  It pulls me out of my funk enough for me to get my butt moving, and well once I start exercising I am good to go.  It’s just sometimes I need that push to get started.  And, there are lots of times when I need the reminder to step away from the junk food and pick a healthier option.

I am quite happy that I live in a world where I can find motivation and encouragement with just a click of the mouse.  Of course don’t get me wrong I like getting those things from actual living, breathing human beings, but sometimes when there isn’t anyone around to give me that old pat on the back I can look at a motivational quote and realize yeah I’m going to do it this time.

If you ever need some words of encouragement know that you have them from me, YOU CAN DO THIS!

So Delicious

I’m an ice cream fan. I am also a cookie dough ice cream fan, but I no longer can have gluten so that meant no more cookie dough ice cream for this girl. Sad Panda right here. Until recently that is.
In one of my gluten-free magazines I saw an advertisement for So Delicious Coconut Milk Gluten Free Cookie Dough Ice Cream. Say What!
I can have dairy and do. But, the fact that there was now a gluten-free cookie dough ice cream out there. I was ready to give it a try. Lucky me, even found it here in Wyoming T our local Natural Grocers store. It was the last pint in the freezer of the stuff so I quickly snatched it up.
I tried it last night, and well it was pretty tasty. I of course forgot about that whole coconut milk think until I had the first bite. There was a definite coconut flavor as would be expected, but hey I like coconut so it was all good. I enjoyed every bite of it. I won’t be buying it all of the time, but I’m happy to know that one of my favorite flavors of ice cream has an available gluten-free option for me when I’m really craving it. And, well warmer weather is coming I hope and I love to eat ice cream on a nice hot night.
So, if you’re like me and can’t have the gluten but love cookie dough ice cream give So Delicious a try.

Fit Bottom Girls And The Anti Diet

I recently have discovered Fit Bottom Girls website and blog. And, well I have to say I’m quickly falling in love with them. I like their approach to all things being fit.
They wrote a book called the Anti Diet

And, well let’s face it dieting doesn’t really work. It’s all about lifestyle changes. The book is set up into 10 different chapters each covering a different topic. At the end of the chapter they give you 10 minute fixes that will help you accomplish what was discussed in the chapter. 10 minute fixes sign me up I have 10 minutes.
This week I read Chapter 1 and it’s called Ditch The Diet Drama, and well let’s face it dieting is drama. I’m going to spend the next week really working on the 10 minute fixes to hopefully ditch the diet drama once and for all.
Also at the end of the chapter they give you a journaling exercise, which for some they mind find ridiculous, but for me I find it really helps. I mean I journal everyday right here so a little journaling exercise isn’t going to bother me any. And, well this first journaling exercise I completed today, and it really did make me stop and think about the way I’ve been thinking about my weight, size, diet, and all of that other stuff. So in 8 minutes of journaling I will definitely say I had quite a few Ah-Ha moments.
I’m really trying to make healthy changes in my life and become healthier me.
With this I went out and bought a Smash Book, if you don’t know what that is, it’s basically a scrapbook. I purchased one of the kits so along with the book I got some stickers, tape, clips, and other fun stuff. Because hey this is my book journaling my journey and why not jazz it up a bit. I have this blog where I can go back and look at my progress, but I think having something solid I can hold and whip out at anytime and see the things I’ve done, accomplished, and changed is also going to help. This is a lifelong journey and a lifelong change that I’m making do why not chronicle it. Change is never easy, and especially this kind of change it takes time and work.
Here’s my starting picture from this past week, and the things I’m going to focus on this week to ditch the duet drama.

Next week I’ll move on to Chapter 2 and let you know how I feel about it, and what I’m doing to use it in my own life.
Hope your weekend was a good one.

Fitbit Addicted

I’ve may have mentioned this in the past ok I know I’ve mentioned this on the past but I’m quite addicted to my fitbit. As in if I haven’t reached my goal for the day I’m not going to sleep until I do.
I am not ashamed to admit that I’ve been seen a time or two pacing, marching/jogging in place, and definitely dancing around to get those last steps in. My husband has finally gotten used to it, and no longer looks at me like I have 2 heads when I start doing any of these things. Although, when I do them in public while waiting in line or whatever he gives me a look. The “look” can only be described as, “Are you seriously marching in place right now? You know you look like you’re doing the “I gotta pee dance” right.” Yeah, I don’t care what I look like I’ve got a goal to meet so whatever.
My addiction goes pretty deep I’ve bought a sweatshirt and a tee-shirt that both proclaim me as an addict. I mean I am one I will fully admit it. So, why not embrace it and announce it. I know there are others out there just like me.
Well, today my addiction went a bit deeper, ok actually it was Thursday night that it went deeper I just got to benefit from it today.
I have the fitbit flex, which if you are unfamiliar with fitbit this is one you wear on your wrist, and no it’s not the one that caused people to break out in rash. Anyway, you can get different colored bands for your flex. And, well I did I bought 7 different colors, and I’m pretty excited about it. I had previously bought 3 additional bands, and have now added to my collection.
I now am the proud owner, yeah that’s right I said proud, of 11 different color bands.
I have:
Hot Pink
Medium Blue
Lime Green
Light Orange
Yeah I’ll be rocking different colored bands every day. Can we say I’ll be color coordinated with my outfits always now. So yeah, I’m addicted.
Here are the 7 new bands that were delivered to my house this morning:

Also, I did it I went for it I splurged big time. I bought the Aria scale. I found it on Amazon for quite a bit less than it sells normally, so I went for it.

I immediately set it up and hopped on that puppy. I like that it gives weight and body fat % of course I did not like the weight or body fat % it told me I was, but hey I’m working on that every day. This week alone was an awesome week for weight loss. I actually lost way more than planned, but I’m sure it has to do with the change in my diet and new exercise routine and next week I’ll be back at a more normal rate of weight loss. But, hey this week I lost 6.1 pounds which now thanks to the Aria scale I received this little gem:

That’s my first weight loss badge. Whooooo! I’ve lost more than that, but you only get badges when you have a wifi scale synced to your account, and well now I do so here’s hoping I’ll be getting many more of them over the next couple of months.
So, yes I’m addicted to my fitbit, it motivates me to get up and move. I know that it’s not accurately recording my calorie burn it’s an estimate and that’s fine, because this little, basically pedometer has motivated me like no other gadget has before. I’m walking at least 15,000 steps a day and doing something very active for at least 30 minutes a day. It’s a reminder to get off my butt, and get moving. It’s made me change things in my daily life. I’m no longer looking for the closest parking space or making only one trip act like a pack mule. No, now I’m parking on the furthest corner of the lot, and I’m making multiple trips.
Yes, I am addicted to my fitbit, but I don’t think it’s a bad addiction to have at all. I’m making healthier choices in my life and have become more active because of this little thing so, I’m not quitting this addiction anytime soon.

First Week Focus T25 Complete!

Today is Friday and well that means 2 things. My first week of T25 is complete. WHOOP, YEAH, GO ME!
And, today was Double Day Friday.

Why, Shaun T, Why!? I pushed through it and did it. I was doing really well through the first 5 minutes of the second session, I was all I’ve got this I’m nailing this, and then by minute 6 I wanted to cry. But, hey I did it and well it was 50 minutes of my day, I can get through anything for 50 minutes once a week. I also felt pretty proud of myself afterwards.
Tomorrow is measurement day and I’m not really expecting inches to be different but I already know some pounds have been lost. I’ll take it. Pounds or inches lost are gold in my book. Tomorrow I’ll actually do a longer run since I’ve been only doing about half what I do, because Shaun T has been kicking my ass. Oh, and the weather is supposed to be decent which means I can get outside soak some vitamin D and enjoy the fresh air. The treadmill will hopefully be seeing a little less of me in the next few months, and the trails will be seeing more of me.
Happy Friday

Raspberry Ketone

I’ve started taking this supplement this week. And, while I have no idea if it does what it claims, and I’m not going to bore you with all the literature on it, I can say that I haven’t experienced any side effects from it. And, well in my book that’s a plus, considering even a daily multivitamin can cause me to have issues. I’ve since found one I like and take it daily.
I have only been taking it for about a week and have not suffered any side effects which is awesome, and I guess the only way to know if it actually does what it says is to compare it with my weight loss and inches lost over time. So it’ll be a while before I know if it really works or not. And, I’m okay with that, and if it doesn’t do what it says it’s not a big deal. I mean I’m okay with the Placebo Affect.
How about you any supplements that you take and swear by?

Lots Of Fitness Stuff

Today was Day 3 of Shaun T’s Focus T25. And, let me tell you I did not enjoy it one bit. The last 2 days I did pretty well I did some modified moves but I kept up with it. Today was Total Body Circuit, and after about 5 minutes I wanted to puke. My arms and shoulders are definitely feeling the workout today. But, hey it means my muscles were put to the test so it’s good for me. I’m not looking forward to the rest of the week either. Tomorrow is ab day, I have a feeling I’ll be feeling this 25 minute workout until the next time I have to do it. Friday isn’t much better, it’s double down Friday which means 2 workouts with the crazy man known as Shaun T. I’ll let you know how that goes for me, if I survive that is.
Yesterday, I posted about Lean Shake 25. Today, after my workout I grabbed one of the bottles of the banana flavor, and WOW! I’m in love! I will be buying a big bottle of that. It was good, no weird aftertaste or chalky feeling. It is definitely my favorite.
I earned a reward on EveryMove for money off a pair of Jaybird Bluetooth headphones, and they arrived today. They were a bit pricey even with the money off, but the reviews were pretty good, and I’m a spazzing when I run with headphones and always end up yanking them out of my ears because I somehow get tangled in the wires. With these it shouldn’t be an issue any longer. They are currently charging so I haven’t tested them out yet, but once I do I’ll let you know how they are. So far all of the products I’ve gotten with rewards from EveryMove have been awesome. The Pound Workout, I love, my OrangeMud Transition Towel has come in handy many a times, Sole Custom Inserts are magic, and my SKORA running shoes are a definite new favorite. So, I’m pretty optimistic that these headphones will be just as amazing as everything else.
I never used to be a fitness nut and fitness gear junkie, but I like the changes I’ve seen in myself. Keeping fit and healthy.

Lean Shake 25

In an effort to up my protein intake, I’ve turned to protein powder. And, I’ve found one I actually like. Protein powder pretty much grosses me out and it’s an effort to swallow it down, but not anymore. I decided to try GNC’s Lean Shake 25. 200 calories and 25 grams of protein sounded like just what I was looking for. Considering I may get 40-50 grams of protein all day. They had some individual packets at buy one get one half off. I quickly grabbed a French vanilla and also decided I’d give the chocolate a try. I’m not a big fan of chocolate things other than pure chocolate. Chocolate cake, ice cream, pudding, I say YUCK to them all, but I figured I’d give it a shot. Well, guess what still don’t like chocolate flavored things, but hey that’s why I bought the individual serving. The French vanilla on the other hand was pretty tasty. These shakes are pretty thick, which makes me feel like I’m drinking a milkshake, and well I love milkshakes, I’ve yet to throw it in the blender with some ice which I’m sure will really up the milkshake likeness. It’s on my to-do list, and I’ll let you know how it tastes.

So after trying the French vanilla and liking it I headed back to GNC and grabbed myself a tub of it. I also got the mixed berry. It’s ok, kind of has a weird aftertaste to it, but next time I’m going to add a banana to it and see how that affects the taste. I also picked up some already made banana flavored ones, which I’m super excited to try. All of the reviews on the banana flavor are pretty stellar. And, well banana shakes are my absolute fave.

I’ve been doing a lot better on my protein intake since starting to drink these, and I’m only having one a day usually as a snack either before or after my workouts, depending on when I have last eaten.

I had been looking at Shakeology, but the price scared the living day lights out of me, especially since I couldn’t sample them before buying. I’m really happy so far with the Lean Shakes.

Hoping your week is being kind to you.

Day 1

Today was my first day doing T 25. And, WOW Shaun T can make me sweat in just 25 minutes. I didn’t nearly die which was definitely my thought a many a time while doing Insanity so that’s good. I did the workout, following a lot of the modifications but hey every day I’ll get stronger. Hopefully, by the end of the Alpha cycle I won’t be modifying I’ll be rocking it out hardcore.
It was a good workout Nd I felt great after completing it, plus it just felt good to get some serious moving and working in.
After I completed the workout I hit the treadmill for a little run training, and then it was off into hyperdrive to get the house ready for a showing. I swear the dogs are home 2 days and it doesn’t even look like the husband and I spent 3 days deep cleaning the place. Oh the joys of being a pet owner.
Hope your Monday hadn’t been to stressful.
