Yesterday’s yoga class was a bit in the comical side. The basketball team from the Naval Station joined our yoga class.
Well let’s just say there was some humor and a whole lot of trying not to laugh out loud. Imagine if you will a bunch of navy guys who also play basketball in their first yoga class. Yeah, I mean really I probably don’t even need to go on any further in explanation. But, I will.
In the first 5 minutes of class we had a poor guy fall over with a cramp, and we weren’t even doing anything. I think we were doing twists sitting on the ground. He was a champ though he walked it off and jumped right back into it.
We did a lot of hip opening work, working through different lunges. We were all trying not to laugh since they really had no clue what they were supposed to do. Our instructor even commented on the fact that they must not do a lot of lunges in basketball since they were having such difficulty with the move. As we were doing different forms of lunges and poses there were several who were falling over, I’m pretty sure there was even one guy who basically crashed to the ground. Of course after making sure they were ok we all were laughing.
But, I’m impressed with them they stuck it out made it through the class were snap chatting away about being in yoga class and all had a lot of praise for anyone that does yoga. The consensus from the players was, “Yoga is no joke!”
And, isn’t that the truth. Thanks to yoga I can do a real girl push up. I wasn’t able to do that a few months ago. I had to do wall push ups or be in a table top position in order to do it. But, now thanks to yoga and chataranga I can do a girl push up. Not a lot of them but I can do them. I’m hoping in a few more months I will be at a real push up. And, well let’s just say my buns, thighs, and legs are showing the progress of yoga 4 times a week.
I love French fries, who doesn’t? Of course they aren’t the best option to eat. They are fried and covered in oil and grease which isn’t something that we should be consuming.
You of course can bake fries but you have to turn them while cooking and they never turn out as delicious as those fries that are fried.
However, today my fries came out amazing. How you ask? With an air fryer. I got my air fryer on Monday and tonight I used it for the first time. And, the French fries and chicken nuggets I had for dinner were delicious. Golden brown and crispy on the outside. Can’t ask for more than that. Oh wait there was no extra fat from oil, because no oil was used at all when cooking. What!!!! It’s true folks.
Here’s what the air fryer looks like
And, here’s what my dinner came out looking like:
Oh, and on top of no added fat form oil, it also cooks in half the time as using the oven. And, no need to wait for the oven to preheat. 12 minutes my dinner was ready to eat and well when you don’t get home until 7:45 a dinner done in 12 minutes is a definite plus.
I’m loving this thing and I can’t wait to try cooking other things in it. Check out the air fryer if you’re looking for a way to fry food but not have the fat.
I made baked ziti tonight for dinner. I used gluten-free pasta of course, a jar of my from scratch tomato sauce, part skim ricotta, and a reduced fat 4 cheese Italian blend.
I did all of the prep work this afternoon as I had a yoga class late this afternoon. This way when I got home all I had to do was throw it in the oven.
Along with the ziti I had some Chicken meatballs. I bought them a while ago and had put them in the freezer. I took them out today and warmed up a serving to go with my dinner. And, I must say that they were awesome. I’ll be buying these again when I see them.
Along with my dinner I decided to forgo the garlic bread I was planning on having and try a glass of the wine I bought the other day. It’s pretty tasty. It’s a fruity Rose.
I’m pretty happy with my dinner it was pretty scrumptious.
Today, was the first day of being back on track, and I did it. I stuck to the exercise and food plan.
I’m proud of myself.
I attended zumba and yoga this afternoon, along with that I stuck to my menu.
