The weight loss/get healthier/more fit journey is a long one.  As in a lifetime type journey.  And, as anyone who has struggled with weight issues it’s often a bumpy and unforgiving one at that.  That’s part of the reason why I write this blog.  It’s just a few minutes of my day where I can write down my struggles, triumphs, or even just whine about how I am feeling.  It doesn’t matter if anyone actually reads it, or not.  I wrote it down and expressed whatever feelings I was having on that particular day at that particular time.

With writing this blog I have found lots of encouragement from you, my readers.  I can’t tell you what it means to me when you comment on a post, whether it’s to ask a question, give advice, or give a “well done”.  It makes my day, and so for that Thank You!  Along, with the comments I get from you, I’ve also found other places that have helped encourage, motivate me, and give me the push to keep going when I want to quit.

Fit Bottomed Girls is a new one I just discovered, I wrote about their book that I am currently reading and plunging into 250%.  I’ve been working on the 10 minute fixes that they gave for Ditching the Diet Drama, and well I have to say it really is making me more self-aware of things that I have been doing that may not have been self sabotaging, although some of them certainly have been, but they definitely haven’t been beneficial to helping me become the best that I can be.  You can read my post here.  And. if you’re interested in finding more about Fit Bottomed Girls you can check them out here.  They are pretty cool, lots of information, and even some giveaways.  Quick if you head over there right now you can even enter todays giveaway.

I am a fitbit junkie, which I’ve talked about on numerous occasions, and well I am not going to bore you with more of that.  However, I will tell you I joined the Fitbit Friends group on Facebook, and these people in the group ROCK!  Super supportive, there is always someone there to give an encouraging word and some motivation when you need.  Advice, well they offer that up too.  I love being part of a group where I don’t feel horrible posting a picture of my before alongside my after.  Heck, I don’t even think I have posted one on here yet.  I love seeing the transformations people are making in their lives to become healthier and more fit.  If you have a fitbit, and even if you don’t but are thinking about get one check out the group, you’ll be amazed at how welcoming and supportive they all are.  Plus, I can’t tell you how many ideas I have gotten for increasing my steps, becoming more active in my daily life, and a million other little things.

Then of course there is Pinterest, which I haven’t been spending nearly as much time on as I once used to.  Hey, it’s ok I am being way more active now, so I don’t have as much time to get sucked into the Pinterest vortex, which is okay with me.  But, on those days where I am just not motivated to do it, or I get frustrated or down on myself I head on over to Pinterest and do a little weight loss or exercise motivation search, and the stuff that comes up always helps me out.  It pulls me out of my funk enough for me to get my butt moving, and well once I start exercising I am good to go.  It’s just sometimes I need that push to get started.  And, there are lots of times when I need the reminder to step away from the junk food and pick a healthier option.

I am quite happy that I live in a world where I can find motivation and encouragement with just a click of the mouse.  Of course don’t get me wrong I like getting those things from actual living, breathing human beings, but sometimes when there isn’t anyone around to give me that old pat on the back I can look at a motivational quote and realize yeah I’m going to do it this time.

If you ever need some words of encouragement know that you have them from me, YOU CAN DO THIS!

I’m BACK!!!!

I’ve been missing for about 6 weeks, but I am back.  And, planning on getting back on track.  I’ve been continuing to get in my daily steps, but have been slacking on the other exercising, and with the eating healthy.  I have been eating pretty crappy lately actually.  But, today I am back on track, and making the good choices again.

Today, I started Pound.  If you haven’t heard about Pound it’s a new workout that uses drumsticks and some pretty kick ass music.  Today was my first day of the 30 day plan they give you.  The focus was on lower body, and well let me tell you, even with doing the modifications my butt and legs are feeling it big time.  I really enjoyed it.  I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s workout, which focuses on upper body.  Along with the Pound workout I started the 30 day Yoga Challenge again.

Here’s a little intro to Pound:

And, if you are interested in doing a Yoga Challenge, this is the one I am doing:

You can find it on YouTube

Tomorrow, I’ll be doing my 5K training.  I am working hard on making running a daily thing, in my life.  I don’t really enjoy running, I don’t think I will ever be a lover of running.  And, I am pretty sure I will never be running a marathon, but a 5K fun run is something I am looking forward to doing.

Along with this I entered a challenge on Fitt.  If you haven’t checked out fit, do it.  There are challenges that you can join, or you can just accept the daily step challenge they present you with.  The challenge I joined is lose a dress size during the month of April.  And, well those crazy people at Fitt, have decided that I will have to do 447,000 steps in the month of April.  That is crazy.  So basically I will be doing 15,000 steps a day to reach the goal.  I can do it, it will just take some work.  Today, was the first day and I was an overachiever and met the 15,000 step goal and then some.

So here it is I am back on the wagon, and will be posting daily.

Hope everyone is well and keeping on their plan.

More YouTube Awesomeness

Last night I was cruising around YouTube looking for some new exercise videos. I’m always looking for cardio videos to do. I like to change-up my cardio, because I have a tendency to become bored rather quickly. So, with this I find myself turning to YouTube a lot to help combat this fact.

In the last week I’ve done a Taebo workout, hello welcome back to the ’90’s. I had forgotten how much of a workout that is. I had done Taebo way back when and of course over the years have moved onto other things. Well the other day I did a 40 minute Taebo workout and thought I’d nearly die. I’ll be doing it again. In addition to Taebo I’ve done walking videos, aerobics boot camp, hip hop dance, and even a cardio barre workout.

Last night I found a channel that I instantly fell in love with. It’s Lauren Fritz, and well she’s a Zumba instructor, that does dances to tons of current songs playing on the radio. Wow! I was definitely impressed. Of course the videos are of the finished product so it’s going to take me a while to learn the moves to each dance, but hey I’ve got time and why not work on my moves for the club. Oh wait I live in Wyoming we are pretty much lacking on the clubs. Anyway, this morning in addition to my run training and yoga I added in a few of her videos and ended up doing 20 minutes worth. Can we say work up a sweat, uhmmmm yeah we can.

Anyway, it’s something else for you to check out if you are looking for a little change-up in your cardio workouts. Enjoy!

Thank You Walkadoo

The other day I told you all about Walkadoo, and well today I received the elusive Unlimited Card. With the Unlimited Card, you get a point for every 40 steps you take. Well game on and challenge accepted.

Add in the fact that I am taking part in a step derby, and currently in third place it gave me all the more reason to step it up. And, step it up I did. I received 2 fitbit badges today.

The first badge:

Yeah, that’s right I took 25,000 steps today. They were done before 6pm. Yeah, I have been moving a lot today. Two hours on the treadmill split into 2, 1 hour sessions, and a 1 hour Leslie Sansone video. Oh, and then there was the walking around the grocery store and what not.

And, finally I’ve reached this badge:

What! 30,000 steps. Yeah, my legs are already feeling it, but hey I’m rocking this thing. And, I’ve got over 100,000 steps in the last 7 days. That’s insane. Of course this will not be an everyday kind of thing, but thanks to Walkadoo, it was a thing for today.

The next badge levels are 35,000 and 40,000. I’m not sure when, but I’ll be working towards them sometime soon.

I’ve decided to take the plunge and go with this whole social dieting thing. I signed up for dietbet and my official weigh in instructions came late last night along with my weigh in word.

I like things that hold me accountable, and well nothing like cold hard cash to hold you accountable. The way the program works if you haven’t heard about is, you sign up for a bet and place your bet. The one I am doing is lose 4% of your body weight in 4 weeks. I put my $30 in the pot, and well I want my $30 back and then some. Everyone that is participating puts their money in the pot and at the end of the bet everyone that has reached their goal splits the pot. Sweet!

I’m a pretty competitive person, and by pretty competitive, I mean I hate losing, so this is even more motivation for me. The thought of not reaching a goal, losing money, and having some of my friends that are doing the bet possibly beating me, I don’t think so. I’ll be losing that 4% over the next 4 weeks.

The only bad part about this bet is the timing.  The last 10 days of the bet will be while I’m on vacation back in NY.  But, hey that’s just the motivation I need to make sure I stay active those days and also to continue to make wise food choices. So hey I say bring it I’m ready.  And, bye-bye 4% of my body weight, I won’t be seeing you again EVER!

I’d love to hear from anyone who has tried this and how you made out, and of course I’ll be keeping you updated over the next 4 weeks on my progress.

Websites And Apps To Check Out

This post is going to be short and sweet.  Let me tell you about 3 pretty neat websites and apps.

  1. Achievement – So this website allows you to connect apps that you already use to your account and you earn points for doing healthy things and being active.  Once you earn 25,000 points they send you a check for $25.  Say What!?  I can earn cold hard cash for being active.  Sweet sign me up, oh that’s right I already have, but if you haven’t you should check it out.
  2. EveryMove – This is a website and an app so that you have it at your fingertips.  This is like Achievement, but instead of earning cash you earn coupons and discounts towards different things.  You get to choose which reward you would like to work towards.  You earn points towards your rewards by again logging the activity that you do, linking your EveryMove account to other apps that you already have, and by adding friends.  I’ve already earned 2 rewards and I’ve only been at it for 2 weeks.  Today I redeemed my first reward.  By the end of next week I will have my moldable, custom footbeds.  Yeah, and the best part they cost me $5 with my reward, okay well they actually cost $13.95 because of shipping, but hello!  Where we you see that price again?
  3. Weightless Project – This is another website that only works if you have a fitbit or a Jawbone Up.  What this website does is it links to your activity tracker, and for every 1,000 calories you burn it converts it to a $1, with the money going to charity.  Hey, that’s pretty cool my being active is helping someone out.  Well why not do it, I’m already being active so why not help someone else out along the way.

There you have it folks 3 websites to check out and get a little and give a little for being your active self.
