That Was No Joke

Today is the start of Phase 2 of the Metabolic Aftershock program I’ve been doing. Well let me tell you I was in for a surprise. I previewed the 3 workouts that I will be doing over the next 3 weeks this weekend and was like oh okay this seems way easier than Phase 1. Hahahaha I’m an idiot. I should of known better. It may look easy but it was anything but.

This Phase of the program has you doing tension chains. Yeah, I thought oh batmans, squats, crunches, and front raises no big deal. It wouldn’t be except for that hold for 1 second, now 2, now 3, and now 4, okay start back over at 1. I was suckin wind before round 2 even started. And, let’s not even mention the fact that every round ended with 45 seconds of push-ups. Are you kidding me!?

Okay shoulders, chest, and back you paid the price today. And, I will never think that a workout looks easy. Holy Canoli!

I made it through and can contemplate my fate for Wednesday for the next 48 hours or so. I thought it would be easy but I know that it will not be.

My goals for the past week were somewhat accomplished but somewhat forgotten as well. It was kind of a hectic week and add in really rainy weather and my motivation went right out the window. I did do all of my MA workouts even got some Cize workouts in but the treadmill yeah that went out the window.

As for eating well it was probably more of a 70-30 week instead of a 85-15 week which is where I’d like to be.

But, I know that there are going to be times when things aren’t going to go exactly according to plan or how I’d like them to be so I have to accept it and move on. So here’s looking to a better week. I have another crazy busy week and lots to do and of course the weather continues to be crap so my motivation is in the toilet.

Seriously, Mother Nature I’d appreciate it if you’d get over this depressed nonsense you have going on and bring nicer, drier weather.

So goals for this week are:

  • Do all Metabolic Aftershock workouts
  • Do 2 days of Cize
  • Eat clean/healthy 85-15
  • Drink 80 oz of water a day
  • Be happy with the slow progress that is being made -progress is progress no matter how little.

Exercise Schedule:

Monday Wednesday Friday – Coordinating Metabolic Aftershock workout

Tuesday Thursday – Cize

Saturday Sunday – Have fun

What are your goals for the week? Did you achieve what you set out to do last week?

Phase 1 Complete

This morning I got up and did the final workout of Phase 1 of Metabolic Aftershock, and no that workout didn’t get easier. However, I worked harder and burned more calories than I did last week so that’s awesome. Because well that’s what is supposed to happen.

I’m looking forward to starting Phase 2 on Monday. I will be previewing the workouts later today to see what I’m in store for.

Over the last 3 weeks I’ve lost 13 pounds. I don’t really see my clothes fitting any different or any difference in my appearance, but the 13 pounds are gone according to the scale. Whooooo!!! But, most of all I can do my treadmill training at a certain speed for 10 minutes straight which when I started I was going much slower and for only half that time.

I’m not getting winded doin simple tasks and every time I do a workout I feel I’m doing more and getting stronger. So all of these things are huge pluses in my book.

So with this I’m happy with the results of Phase 1 and am excited to see what Phase 2 has in store for me.

Happy Friday. Here’s to a dry weekend as it’s going to be raining and nasty here.

Cize It Up

Today I threw in Cize by Shaun T. I did the Crazy 8’s workout.

30 minutes of dancing fun. And well I’ll be honest my rhythm sucks and remembering how to Cha Cha Cha and all of that jazz, but I had fun and danced my tail off for 30 minutes.

I enjoy doing Cize because yes you are working out definitely getting a good cardio workout in but it’s fun. I mean how can you not have fun listening to good beats and dancing around.

And, seriously if you’re not getting the moves down its no big just keep moving. Plus, the way it’s taught it’s broken down really well and repeated over and over. You can get the concept and over time you’ll get better and better at it. I will probably never look like Shaun T and his dancers but hey I’m in my living room by myself so no one is watching me so it’s okay. Who cares if you look a fool when no one is watching.

A little dancing fun and a whole lot of calorie burn.

Yeah, I love looking at that. All from dancing.

Bring on Friday I’m ready for you now.

Rx Bars and 310

I’m not a huge breakfast eater. It’s actually really hard for me to eat breakfast I actually have to actually think about eating it and then make myself do it. Crazy I know but it’s true. I know I really should eat something, but I’m not a morning person and adding that one extra bit to do in the morning makes me groan.

However, I’ve been doing fairly well with eating breakfast. I’ve missed a few days here and there but for the most part I’ve been eating it.

My 2 go to breakfasts are either a 310 shake or an Rx Bar. Both are super easy and portable. As in they can fly with me in the car. So, there is no need to get up any earlier to eat, as it goes with me.

So, I’m not a huge fan of protein shakes. They always taste gross to me and just have a weird after taste and I can never add enough stuff to them to cover up the taste without adding a billion extra calories to the already large amount of calories in the powder. However, I’ve found one I actually like. And, even more surprising is I’ll even drink the chocolate flavored one. I love chocolate but HATE anything chocolate flavored. Chocolate cake, pudding, ice cream, and protein powders are all things I have no problem saying no to. However, 310’s chocolate isn’t too bad. Plus with only 90 calories I can add a whole lot of stuff and not have a 900 calorie meal. I mix the shakes with ice, almond milk, fruit, and sometimes nut butters and I have no problem drinking them and enjoying it. Now, I will admit I like the vanilla flavor better but it’s good to change it up every once in a while. I blend up the shake pour it into a cup or travel cup depending and I’m on my way. And, it definitely keeps me full until I’m ready for lunch, which is awesome. I don’t need a mid morning snack.

The other breakfast of choice is Rx bars. I love them and they have expanded their line to include some new flavors that are absolutely delicious. The thing I love about Rx bars are the taste and the fact that the ingredients are all real food. There is nothing in them that isn’t whole real food. I love that. I buy a case off of Amazon and keep a stock of them. I always have one in my purse and one in my car for those times when I’m starving and there is no meal anytime soon in site. They are a great emergency food to have on hand. Also, I love these for traveling I take them with me whenever I travel. No need to worry about finding something gluten free and healthy that I can snack on when I bring these along. They pack around 12 grams of protein which always is a good thing for me and will work as a meal or as a snack to hold me off until I can get a meal in me.

Thank you Rx bars and 310 for getting me into somewhat of a breakfast habit.

Happy Saturday

Yeah, That Wasn’t Any Easier

So today was Day 3 of Wek 2 of Phase 1 of Metabolic Aftershock. Yeah, and as the title says it definitely isn’t getting any easier. Ughhhhh!!! This Day 3 workout holy cannoli folks!!! I’ve been done with the workout for an hour and my legs are still feeling a little shaky.

Bulgarian Split Squats, Lunges, and Squats, oh and then some staggered push-ups just for a little extra torture. Yeah, I hate you! My legs will be feeling this through the weekend. But, hey I am pushing myself and working hard!  The sweat that was pouring off me is definitely proof of that, oh and the fact I was sucking wind.

And, of course after I finished the Aftershock workout it was onto my treadmill training. Yeah, I wanted to die 10 minutes with a tenth of a mile/hour increase in speed felt like 10 days, but I pushed through and did it.

I’m going and I’m sticking with it but it exhausts me. But, there is no stopping me I need to make the changes and I feel pretty awesome afterwords so it’s worth it.

And, it’s Friday which means some fun things planned for the weekend and no scheduled exercise but I’m sure I’ll find something to do.

Enjoy your weekend.

Go With The Flow

I was planning on going for a short 30 minute bike ride today. However, Mother Nature had other plans.

This is the current state of affairs outside and appears it will be that for the remainder of the day. So, I had to swipe out the bike ride for something else.

So, I thought about what I could do.  I could do a walk at home video, however I knew I was also doing a 6 minute stint on the treadmill so a walking video didn’t seem like a great idea. I could do some Pound, Cize, or Pi-Yo, and then I saw it.

The Wave. I haven’t used it in a long time, and after today I remember why. Holy leg burn!!!!

This is The Wave if you’ve never heard of or seen it before. You can use it for cardio, weight training, and stretching. It’s pretty cool. Today I used it in the rocker position. If you flip it over you can use it as a step or an assist for stretching, which I did use to help stretch my calf, I’m dealing with a tight right calf that’s been nagging me for a few days now. But, anyway I was using The Wave in the rocking position, and rocked from side to side and then turned so that I could also rock front to back for 20 minutes while watching a little TiVo.

Let’s just say that it may not look like much and when you first start you think oh this is so much fun I could do this forever, and after about 2 minutes your tune changes drastically. I like it because I definitely get a good sweat going on and there is no impact on the joints which is nice. Oh and let’s add in the amount of balance it takes. Stepping on and off require some serious balance and once you get it a Rockin’ be prepared.  No, I didn’t go flying off but I could see it happening.

After 20 minutes of Rockin’ The Wave I hit the treadmill and was able to add the minute to my time.

So, I had to do some changes to make up for the weather, but I still did something. I will have to fit 10 more minutes of something in today as I was planning on doing 30 minutes on the bike. However, I’m doing laundry and flipping the mattress today, so hmmm lugging the laundry to the washer and dryer, folding, putting it away, flipping the mattress, and remaking the bed should count as some form of exercise right? Yes? No? Maybe?

How is your week going are you meeting your goals?

Getting Back Into It

I’ve been crazy busy and massively slacking in the blogging. But, I’ve decided that it’s something I need to make time for since I really enjoy it.

I’ve been super diligent about tracking my food using MyFitnessPal, if you use it feel free to add me ARosa1980. I love having friends for encouragement and accountability.

I’ve tracked everything I’ve eaten for 2 weeks now and have lost 7 pounds. Okay, I really haven’t lost 7 pounds because I’m not looking to find them ever again so let’s say I’ve destroyed 7 pounds over the last 2 weeks. I haven’t added any exercise into the mix this has just been through watching what I eat and recording what I’m eating. I’ve even had a couple of days where I ate more than I should have and not made the best choices. However, over 2 weeks I’ve made for the most part healthy food choices and it’s shown.

I really wanted to get back into the tracking and clean healthy eating before I added an exercise regimen in. One thing at a time. Well tomorrow I’m starting to add the exercise back in. I’m doing a 9 week program that is based on my metabolism. It’s only 15 minutes a day 3 times a week. There are no designated rest periods as the way it works is to push yourself as hard as you can until you can’t go anymore than rest until you can go. I’m going to give it a whirl. I mean I can find 15 minutes in my day to do a little physical activity. So, I’m going to give it a whirl and see how it goes.

Along with tracking all my food with MyFitnessPal I’ve been going to town again on YouFood. It’s kind of like Instagram but for food. It works great for the times when I can’t immediately log my food as I’ve got a picture of what I’ve eaten. Plus, I get to see all sorts of deliciousness that other people are eating and pick up some new recipes. If you’re on YouFood or join follow me at AbbyR. I’d love to see what you are eating and cooking. You also can post your exercise which is always fun to see what others are doing and perhaps learn about a new workout/exercise.

So yeah, 2 weeks of tracking and sticking with it and I’ve had results on the scale. I just need to remember that even if I don’t always see results on the scale it doesn’t mean results aren’t happening. Unfortunately, I too often forget that and get discouraged. There is more to being healthy than the number on the scale.

Sorry I’ve been MIA but I’m back!!!!

May, is starting a new outlook on things.

Fitbit I’m Back!!!

I just purchased the new Fitbit Blaze. I was a big fan of the Fitbit Flex for a long time, and have tried the Garmin Vivoactive, and most recently the Withings Pop ActivĂ©.

When they announced the new Fitbit Blaze I fell in love it had the smart watch capabilities and multi-activity that I loved about the Garmin, but this also has the built in heart rate monitoring, which the Garmin doesn’t have. Although, I guess there is a new Garmin coming out with wrist heart rate monitoring, but I haven’t seen it yet.

I just got the Blaze today it is currently charging so I’ve yet to test it out. I like that you have the ability to change the bands and even get leather or steel bands that will make it a bit more dressier. I’ve found that this is a big problem with fitness trackers they break up an outfit pretty easily. If I like the Blaze after giving it a test for a while I will definitely be picking up a higher end band to wear on days where I’m at work and running around. I’ll still be taking it off and putting on the nice watch when I’m going out, but it’ll be nice to have a nice looking band to go with my business attire.

I can’t wait to put this Fitbit to the test and I’m pretty excited about it which will definitely help with my motivation factor to get out and move more. It’s all about getting up and moving. I really need to do that and I want to start run training and by run training I mean fat man jog training but it’s a start.

Also I like the fact that they’ve incorporated FitStar into their device as well and so now there is no excuse not to workout wherever you are. I like FotStar a lot so I think I’ll get a lot of use out of this feature as well.

I’ll let you all know in a few weeks what I think of the new Fitbit Blaze. But, I’m sure I’ll be addicted as anything again to the Fitbit and my steps as I once was before.

Blaze is charging

Blaze band, I’ll be gettig a nicer one if I like it to wear to work.

Happy stepping.

Beautiful Day

It’s a beautiful day and looks like it’s going to continue into the evening here. I’m enjoying the spring like feel of the day.
On another note my friends over at Thick2Thin who I absolutely love are doing a huge sale on their clothing as they are about to launch a new business plan. So

Head on over to t2t and get yourself some amazing fitness clothes and help support small business.

A New Job

This is not related to anything about extra pounds but hey it’s my blog and I can write about what I want so I’m going to, and well it makes me feel good about myself so I guess it kind of does have something to do with the blog.

Anyway, I’ve done I’ve joined the direct sales wagon. I’ve recently become a Stella & Dot stylist. I love the products from Stella & Dot. I have a ton of stuff from them, and well it made sense to make a little money while enjoying the merchandise.

Why do I love Stella & Dot so much, besides the amazing way it looks? Well I love that it is so versatile. Many of their pieces are designed to be more than 1 way, which I love. I can take a piece from day to night just by changing up the way I’m wearing it by adding or removing a part of the piece.

Currently right now my favorite piece is the Freya Fringe necklace. I have worn this piece so many times and I’ve only owned it for about a month. According to the website it’s a 4 in 1 piece however while cruising on Pinterest I found this clever person who shows 11 different ways to wear the necklace, 1 way is as a bracelet.

I love it and can’t wait to try some of these different variations of the necklace. Add in the fact that this necklace is mixed metals and well it can be worn with pretty much everything I own. This is great when traveling I don’t have the need to bring tons of accessories, I just grab 1 or 2 of my pieces and I’m good for the entire time I’m gone.

The Freya isn’t the only piece that’s like this. I’ve worn the Lottie necklace, which unfortunately is retired, as a bracelet,

and have recently found some really cool layering ways to wear this necklace with other necklaces.  Here’s the actual necklace

I loved it as a bracelet and also wearing it backwards so that it’s all gold.

Click here and check out all of the fun, versatile, and stylish items you can get. I mean Valentine’s Day is coming and we have some amazing engravables that would make great gifts. This is one of my favorite ways to use the engravables:

Also, the spring line just launched and I can’t even tell you how much I love so many of the pieces. Yes I pretty much want them all, but I’ve picked a couple that I can’t wait to start wearing.

Be sure to pop on over and like my Facebook page I’d really appreciate it and it’s wear I’ll announce new line launches, promotions, and occasional giveaways.

Okay, enough plugging myself here’s to a great weekend, and if you’re in the snow storms path stay warm and safe.
