In honor of Valentine’s Day and February being National Heart Month I decided to do this
I started the morning off with a hair appointment. I love getting my hair cut. Okay I don’t actually like cutting my hair because I want it to be longer, but it has to be done in order to keep it healthy, but I love the way my hair looks and feels after a good quality cut.
The girl that does my hair is moving to a new location, which is actually okay because she will be moving closer to where I live now so that’s a plus. It’s so hard finding someone you like for hair cuts. Because, unfortunately the only way to know if you like them is to let them have at your hair and see how it turns out. But, Brittney is amazing.
After the haircut it was a quick stop at the store to pick up some trousers as I have a job interview in a few hours and needed something to wear to it. But hey I did awesome. I was able to get 4 shirts and 2 pairs of pants for $111. So I did awesome.
Then it was off to the threading studio to get the eyebrows done. I love getting them threaded as they come out looking so much cleaner than with waxing. And, also no breaking out which happens with waxing.
So it’s been a good me day. Now to get ready for that interview.
Let’s talk jewelry shall we. Stella & Dot is a company that sells accessories jewelry, handbags, wallets, and scarves to name a few items you can purchase.
Now I will say at first look I thought it was expensive, and it is. Hence the reason why the husband gets sent a wishlist with items I want and it makes his Valentine’s, Christmas, Anniversary, or Birthday gift giving easy. My first pieces I got from Stella & Dot are still some of my favorites and wear them often.
This engravable bracelet is awesome and also comes in a gold version which I would love to get at some point. My bracelet which I’m currently not near or if post a picture of it has the coordinates of the Eiffel Tower, which is where the husband and I got engaged. The possibilities are endless for what memory you can put on these bracelets.
This necklace also comes in a gold version. The necklace sells for $79 which I’m sure you’re thinking is a lot. But, when you think about it it’s not really that expensive as I can wear it 3 different ways. Create the layering look by wearing both necklaces or you can creat a second and third look by simply wearing one of the necklaces. You can create further looks by pairing either of the necklaces with another necklace you may already have or another item from Stella & Dot.
This is one of Stella & Dot’s Tassel Necklaces, which by the way are currently on sale for Black Friday, can create 2 different looks. The tassel removed from the beaded chain to create 2 different styles. This necklace comes in 3 choices gold, silver, and azure. I’m in love with the azure and may have to pick it up while it’s on sale.
And, you know that saying you get what you pay for. I can’t tell you how true that is. You can pick up a knockoff/copycat version of many Stella & Dot products at the many accessory stores out there. Here’s an example of one that is similar to the Tassel necklace.
You can tell by looking at it that the quality is nothing compared to that of the Stella & Dot and the tassel is not removable on this. You may think what’s the big deal I’ll just buy a separate strand of beads. Well yeah you could but now you have more accessories to store and say you’re traveling the fewer items you need to bring and the more versatile each item is the better. Especially when you need to pay for those suitcases to fly with you and you have weight limits to stick to.
My all time favorite necklace from Stella & Dot is the Rebel. I wear this necklace all of the time. It comes in 3 finishes silver, gold, and rose gold. I have it in rose gold, and may have to add a gold one sometime in the future.
And, let’s talk about packaging. They are amazing there is no reason to even wrap the items if you’re giving them as a gift if you don’t want to.
Hint for all the men out there, wrapping is done when you buy Stella & Dot.
Okay so it’s a bit more pricing then hitting the accessory store in the mall, but that’s why you take advantage of their promotions. And, right now is the time to get the goods. They are currently running a promo called Dot Dollars for every $50 spent until December 15 you will get $25 Dot Dollars that can be redeemed starting December 29th so you can further accessorize any new clothes, handbags, and shows you got over the holidays. That sounds pretty awesome, but wait there is more going on. They’ve started their Black Friday sale already and there are items that are on sale big time.
Oh, but we aren’t done yet people when you attend a trunk show either in person or online you’re eligible to take advantage of the trunk show exclusive deals. When you spend $50 you can items that are trunk show deals for 50% off.
yes, it’s more expensive than the stores in the mall, but again you get what you pay for, but if you take advantage of their promos you actually are making out really well.
So check out Stella & Dot and find gifts for those women in your life. Sisters, moms, aunts, best friends, wives, girlfriends, they all need a little accessory in their life.
Every once in a while I tell you about products I love that are usually fitness or health related. Well today I’m going to talk about a product I love that has nothing to do with either of those things or about losing weight. And, well it’s my blog so I can.
I recently fell in love with Jamberry. If you know what they are you probably love them if you have no idea what I’m talking about, I’ll tell you. They are heat activated nail wraps that can last up to 2 weeks on your nails and well they rock. No dry time and no chipping. What!!!! I know right no need to wait for my nails to dry and no annoying chipping after 2 days. And, of course chipping off your nail polish is bad for your nails, but you’ve guessed it I’m a picker. So Jamberry is amazing for me.
I would paint my nails every couple of days because once there was a chip I’d pick at my nails so I’d have to reprint them. Which is fine, but it’s time consuming and annoying to have to do it so soon after doing them. Now my complaint is why Jamberry do you last so long, I want to change my nails but you still look awesome.
I love all of the different looks you can create with the wraps. You can do all sorts of wild and crazy looks, simple and classic, and you can pretty much find anything under the sun to match your personality. And, well if they don’t have it then you can create your own wraps using their nail art studio.
Don’t worry those of you who love painting your nails they offer nail lacquer which I have fallen in love with as well. In my opinion it’s a million times better than regular polish. You really only need one coat but can do two, it goes on super smooth and even, and the dry time is quick.
If you love your gel/shellac polishes well they’ve just released a new line of gel polishes as well. The best part it can be used with their lacquers and wraps as well making them last even longer. What!!!! I haven’t tried the gel yet but everyone I know who has is raving about it. I can’t wait to try it. It’s on my wish list for my next order.
So yeah they have tons of products that are awesome and I love them.
They also have a monthly subscription box that costs $25 and you get at least $30 worth of product. September was amazing as I received $40 worth of products. Yeah oh and the longer you subscribe to the box the lower your cost. I have a year subscription so my cost is lower than $25 a month.
And, hey even if you get your nails done and have the acrylic or gel nails, Jamberry can be applied over them. How cool is that?
Here’s some of my Jamicures.
You’ll notice that the more I’ve done the better at them I have gotten. Oh and I do lots of layering. Clear wraps over lacquer is one of my favorite things to do, as you can see by my pictures.
This is my current Jamicure which was this month’s style box goods. 2 unique wraps that you can only get through style box and a lacquer. This one is called VIP. I love how the 2 different wraps make the color of the lacquer underneath appear a different color. Oh and did I mention the style box comes in 3 different varieties classic, which is what I have, feminine, and trendy. You take a little quiz and they determine your style but don’t worry if you don’t agree with them as you can change it to what you like, and when the boxes come out they are 3 unique looks. I’m in love with it.
The new catalog just released this month and there are so many amazing wraps and new lacquers. Plus all of the fall and winter holiday wraps. Tons to choose from.
You can check it out here. Did I mention that they do a Buy 3 Get 1 Free promotion on all of their wraps except for premium and nail art studio wraps. I’m sure you’ll find something that you’ll love. And at checkout be sure to join Abby’s party.
After yesterday’s slightly painful MRI it was time to make me feel good. I already had a hair appointment scheduled that was made 6 weeks ago, it just worked out that it was the day after the MRI.
However, as I was leaving the MRI the salon called me to tell me that the stylist I see is no longer working there. Ughhhhhh! I loved her. However, I’ve been going there for a while so I’ve gotten to see some of the other stylist at work and was able to request another stylist that I like. She had an opening 10 minutes after when my original appointment was supposed to be so it worked out perfectly.
I’ve got a great cut and nice styled hair. Perfect.
After the hair cut I headed on over to WOW Brows and got my eyebrows threaded by the fastest lady ever. I mean she’s done before I’ve even fully reclines in the chair. Okay, not quite that fast but she is fast and well the eyebrows are looking good.
Tomorrow I’ll finish my pampering by going to get a mani/pedi. I could of gone today but I was just tired and hungry and decided to come home. I have no appointments okay well no that’s not true I just made plans with a friend to go see an 11 o’clock showing of 50 Shades tomorrow night. But, no appointments going on during the day tomorrow. The one and only day this week. It’s been a busy week.
I took in my Zumba class this morning and after headed over to the MAC store.
I love going to MAC because well they will teach you how to do your make-up. I’m pretty low maintenance when it comes to my make-up and when I do it am looking for a pretty natural look. Every once in a while I’ll glam it up for an event. But, most days it’s the natural look for this girl.
I used to not be a foundation girl, but alas I’ve gotten older and now need it. My skin needs to be evened out. Of course once you put foundation on you’ve created an even skin tone, so even that you don’t even look natural anymore.
So, now I need to do some highlighting, contouring, and blush. All things that I have no clue really how to do, or what colors to use on my face. And, well this is when the magic of the MAC store comes in. They will find the right colors for you, and not only that but teach you how to do it.
I loved the look that the make-up artist created for me today. It was super easy to do, and looked completely natural. 2 requirements for me. So it was a win-win. I now know what and where to highlight and what I need to do for contouring. Also I learned how to apply blush. I’ve been a bit skeptical of blush, because let’s face it you can look like a clown real easy with the wrong application of blush. I’m excited to try all that I learned out.
I’m pretty sure I’ll be heading back to learn the art of the smokey eye. I love the look but I’m not very good at doing it, so I’ll need a lesson soon.
So yeah this blog is a little off my normal topics, but hey when I look good I feel good so this is all part of it.
