I was an active little bee today. I woke up did my Double Day T 25, followed by a 15 minute mile walk. Since the weather was amazing this morning I decided to soak up some Vitamin D and get the dogs some exercise by doing a 4.5 mile walk with them at the park.
After returning home I did a 30 minute Leslie Sansone video before eating lunch. A few hours after lunch I did 90 minutes of aerobics and well after that I’m feeling exhausted. I was really trying to get my 40,000 step badge today, but it’s not happening. I worked out hard, and to get that 40,000 step badge I think I might have to take it a bit slower. I’m ready for bed, I’m finishing this post and that’s exactly what I will be doing. Sleeping, and giving these legs of mine a rest.
Not only did I do insane amounts of working out today, I also made all of the salads, side dishes, and desserts for the BBQ I’m having at my house. Yeah, don’t ask I’m not sure how I managed to do all of this either. But, hey I did and it’s not like I didn’t get a ton of steps in. I mean check it out for yourself.
I mean those stats are pretty impressive. Look at those active minutes and calories burned. I love days like this, and well I know tomorrow I will be noshing on some yummy, tasty BBQ food, so I need to step it up today. I’ll be getting in my steps tomorrow, but I can tell you right now I will not be tracking the food that I am eating like I normally do. It’s ok, I know I just need to eat the goodness that is BBQ fare in moderation, and well then I can try a bit of everything.
Happy Memorial Day Weekend!
As, you know if you follow my blog I’ve been doing T25, and I’m loving it. Okay, I’m usually cursing Shaun T for all 25 minutes, but when it’s done I’m loving it. I know I’ll be seeing results I mean I’m already doing better with each workout so I know I’m improving. Which is all I can ask and hope for.
Well, along with this I’ve been doing a 2-3 mile walk/run with the dogs most days since the weather here in Wyoming has been resembling something like Spring. I of course have continued to do all my weird little tricks I’ve found to get more steps in. Including writing my blogs while I walk around my house, which I’m currently doing now. I’ve also been hitting it hard with Leslie Sansone. I’ve been doing her HIIT training workouts. Radio Hits and Party Songs. I love them 45 minutes goes by fast and I definitely get a good sweat going. I’ve also been doing her 5 Mega Miles and 4 Mile Power walk and let me tell you both of them get the heart going. I’ve been doing a lot of working out at least 90 minutes of pretty high intensity exercise every day and I’m loving it. I look forward to it. Of course I always have those days where I just don’t want to start but once I do I plow through the workouts and feel great.
So yeah, I’m loving all the moving I’m doing. I’m of course already working on my plan for when I head to NY and how I’ll get all my steps and exercising in. It’ll happen because I’m not quoting now.
So i am getting my move on and I hope you are as well.
The other day I told you all about Walkadoo, and well today I received the elusive Unlimited Card. With the Unlimited Card, you get a point for every 40 steps you take. Well game on and challenge accepted.
Add in the fact that I am taking part in a step derby, and currently in third place it gave me all the more reason to step it up. And, step it up I did. I received 2 fitbit badges today.
The first badge:
Yeah, that’s right I took 25,000 steps today. They were done before 6pm. Yeah, I have been moving a lot today. Two hours on the treadmill split into 2, 1 hour sessions, and a 1 hour Leslie Sansone video. Oh, and then there was the walking around the grocery store and what not.
And, finally I’ve reached this badge:
What! 30,000 steps. Yeah, my legs are already feeling it, but hey I’m rocking this thing. And, I’ve got over 100,000 steps in the last 7 days. That’s insane. Of course this will not be an everyday kind of thing, but thanks to Walkadoo, it was a thing for today.
The next badge levels are 35,000 and 40,000. I’m not sure when, but I’ll be working towards them sometime soon.
YouTube is an amazing little site. Along this journey I’ve discovered that YouTube is much more than a place to watch videos of kids saying funny things, pranks, and cute animals. It’s also a place where you can find great workout videos for free.
That’s right I said FREE! Over the past 11 weeks I’ve turned to YouTube to help me get my daily steps and activity in. I’ve done walking videos with Leslie Sansone, which I thought were going to be boring as all get out, but have been quite enjoyable, Zumba, which has become a new favorite, I limit it to once a week, because I would do it every day, and well than I wouldn’t have a very diverse group of workouts would I, I’ve found dance workouts, boot camps, barre routines, and even a little Jillian Michaels.
All of these workouts lasting anywhere from 15 minutes to well over an hour have helped me become a fitter, healthier, leaner, and lighter me. I like that I can say I’m in the mood for XYZ, and find something to fit that need on YouTube. Plus, there are so many different videos that come up that I know that I won’t become bored, I will always have options.
When I started on this journey I was considering joining a gym, but I’m glad I didn’t because I can pretty much find a video on nearly anything and have my own private class at anytime of the day I choose. And, well I was already paying for internet anyway so my monthly costs haven’t gone up any.
How about you any favorite YouTube workout videos that you have?
I did my first walking video on Sunday. There are plenty of them out there, I just was never really interested in them. On Sunday, I was feeling absolutely, positively sick, so I did nothing but lay in bed until 4:30 in the afternoon. So needless to say I was nowhere near reaching my daily step goal. I knew that I didn’t want to not reach my goal, and really it wouldn’t take more than an hour. And, well I feel much better after exercising usually, so I decided I’d get up and move.
I have seen lots of people talking about walking videos on the various Fitbit groups I belong to on Facebook. I’ve seen them on YouTube and decided why not give it a try. I found several Leslie Sansone videos on YouTube and decided to give one a try. I did her advanced 5 mile walk that was a little over an hour. Let me tell you it was actually quite enjoyable. You don’t just walk in place for the entire time she does different stepping moves, sidesteps, kicks, hamstring curls, and she even adds some resistance into the walks so you’re working your upper body.
Now, I love my treadmill, but this video was just something a little different and a nice change from busting out an hour-long walk on the treadmill. It’s definitely something that I will be doing again. Plus, I’m happy to know that they are something that I can enjoy, because when I travel there isn’t always a treadmill available, and with these videos I can work out in my hotel room, or wherever I am and still stay on top of my exercise regimen.
I like having workouts that are portable because I’m really concerned about falling out of the habit of working out, and when traveling that’s when it will happen. So Leslie Sansone walking videos are pretty awesome, not something that I would want to do every day, but definitely something that I can use as a substitute or just something different when I need it. Here’s the video I did if you want to check it out, or you can click on the member and find other videos by Leslie Sansone if you’re not quite up to doing 5 miles. Enjoy!
