Epic Bars

I have been using TwoGrand for a little while now and absolutely love it. It’s basically Instagram for your food with a weight loss twist. Check out the app if you haven’t it’s been amazing for me. First, in seeing what others are eating, getting new recipe ideas, staying motivated, and learning about new products.
Epic Bars, is one of those new products I learned about through TwoGrand. I won’t eat them, well maybe one day I’ll try the turkey one, but I thought they’d be perfect for my husband. They are gluten free paleo and grass fed. They come in 4 flavors Bison, Beef, Lamb, and Turkey. I bought the 4-pack sampler off Amazon for the husband to try out. I figured if he liked them they were another alternative to beef jerky and also a good post-workout snack for him if he couldn’t make a protein shake. Since he’s getting ready to head back overseas we are starting to get all of his supplies together again. Anyway, the bars are a bit expensive but of course the more you buy the cheaper they become. But, before I bought a case I wanted to make sure they were something he’d eat. He gave them his seal of approval.
Well, thanks to TwoGrand today and somebody’s post I was able to get them from Amazon for $.24 a piece. Yeah they are usually about $2.50 a piece. I was like what!!!!! The price was only on one flavor of the bars but that’s okay we’ll buy the cases of that flavor for that price. I quickly ordered 6 cases and am now waiting for the delivery of the Epic Bars which will be here sometime next week. They were not Prime eligible but who cares for that price. Now, I’m still questioning if I’m actually getting cases or just an individual bar, but the description clearly states case. We shall see when they arrive. Either way the husband will have a few more Epic Bars.

I’m Loving These Apps

In the last week I’ve discovered some new fitness apps. Okay, a couple of apps I’ve had for a while but have just started really using.
First is TwoGrand, which I did write about last week when I started using it. It’s pretty awesome. You take pictures of everything you eat, and well I can tell you I’m making better food choices with the knowledge that tons of people are seeing what’s on my plate. You can follow people on the app, it’s basically Instagram for your food. You can comment, like, post links on the photos. It’s great. You can also post pictures of your workouts and progress that you are making along your journey. I really like this app as I’ve already gotten some new recipes, new ideas for food, and learned about vitamins and supplements. It’s a lot of fun. If you’re on TwoGrand feel free to add me AbbyR.
MyFitnessPal is another app that I was dabbling with for a while. I’d use it then stop. I’ve been using it every day since December 1, 2014. I find that tracking my food leads to better choices and less overeating. I have also made it more fun by actually using the app as it was meant to be used by adding friends. Up until last week to had no friends on MFP, but let me tell you since adding friends I’ve been loving it. The encouragement and comments I have been getting are really encouraging me to keep going with my choices and staying on the path to a healthier, fitter me. Feel free to add me there if you’re using MFP ARosa1980.
And, the last app I’m going to talk today about is Fotocracy. This is another app that I’ve had for a little while but haven’t been using up to its full potential until now. It’s an app where you record your workouts and accumulate points which allow you to level up, but really mean nothing but hey it’s still fun to get points and move up in levels. However, the real point of the app is the groups and training. They have all sorts of different training programs that you can pick from, that do cost money, and I haven’t tried any of them yet but I’m thinking about joining one in a month or two. I’m deciding on what type of training I want to start with. The other part of the app I love is the groups. There are groups for all sorts of topics. Eating healthy, lifting, weight loss, and a ton of other topics. It’s in these groups you can communicate with the rest of the community getting information, asking questions, posting achievements, setbacks, sharing recipes, workouts, or whatever it may be that you want to let others know. I love seeing what others are doing as it encourages me to keep moving on and also I love the feedback I get from others on items I post. It’s a great positive community and gives an extra level of encouragement and well who can’t use that. You can find me on Fitocracy Abby80.
Lastly, I’m going to talk about a website. It’s called Leap4Life. You link your fitness tracker to the website, and join events and challenges. By joining these events and challenges you earn status points and/or fitwell points. I’m not really what the status points do for you, other than to say I have this many status points Whooo!!! However, the fitwell points are what you want. These points you keep banking and then can cash them in for gift cards. What!!! Free gift cards for doing what I’m already doing SCORE!!! The challenges are based on your ability and fitness zone. So if you’re just starting out your requirement will be lower than that of a seasoned veteran so it’s attainable for everyone. Check it out might as well get some free money for something you are already doing.

New Recipes & A New App

In the last 2 days I’ve tried 3 new recipes. Thank you Pinterest. All of the recipes are super easy to make and super tasty.
The first one I’ll just describe for you since it is that easy to make. You need a package of kielbasa, a green pepper, a red or yellow pepper, or another green pepper it really doesn’t matter, an onion, and 2 large potatoes. I used sweet potatoes to keep it Paleo but you can use regular potatoes of you so choose. You cut everything up into chunks and throw it in a heavy skillet with a little olive oil. Cook away. I will say that I cooked the potatoes a bit by themselves before adding everything else since they take more time than the other ingredients. It was what we had for dinner last night. There was plenty of leftovers, which I will be sticking in the freezer for a later date.
Here’s what it looked like:

The next recipe is amazing. Even being Paleo I can still have Belgian waffles. I made a pumpkin spice Paleo waffle. These are so good. I am actually going to make up a double batch of the batter again tomorrow and freeze them. So another quick breakfast option for when I’m pressed for time.
I mean check this out doesn’t it look just really tasty. I even had some turkey bacon with it.

If you want to try them, just click right here.
The last recipe is a Paleo clone of Starbucks pumpkin spice scones. I just made these today. Actually I just pulled them out of the oven. I made mine more into cookies since I was to lazy to shape them into scone like shapes. The recipe calls for a glaze, actually 2 glazes a vanilla glaze and than topped with a pumpkin glaze. I opted not to do the glazes but, they are still delicious. I haven’t had a pumpkin scone from Starbucks in years, because of that whole gluten thing, but I can tell you that these are great. I made 2 dozen of them so you guessed it some of them are going in the freezer. And, here you go peeps click right here and get yourself the recipe. Give them a try they are super tasty.
Okay, now in the title I told you about a new app. I just discovered TwoGrand. Have you heard of this app? It’s an app where you take a photo of what you’re eating. It’s uploaded and then everyone can see what you’re eating. I don’t know about you but if everyone in the webisphere, is that a word if not it is now, is going to see what I’m eating I’ll be making better choices. You do a whole profile about your food choices and how you associate with food and they recommend people to follow and of course you can follow whoever you want as well. So, if you’re on TwoGrand my username is AbbyR add me I need some friends on the app since I just started it this morning.
So there you have some recipes and an app.
