Today I spent the day walking around NYC again, and managed to get in 8.5 miles without even trying. Along with all of the walking I took a Circle Line Cruise around. Manhattan.
Today I headed into Manhattan to meet up with my sister-in-law for some lunch and check out her new office digs.
We headed off to Chop’t for some delicious salads and after lunch she headed back to work and I checked out the shops on Madison Ave and 5th Ave. I ventured into Tiffany’s and checked out the diamonds, looked at the ridiculousness that is Gucci, Prada, Fendi, Dolce, and several other designers.
Of course all of the walking around the shops have helped to burn the calories today and get lots of steps in. Ahhhh NYC I love you.
Tomorrow is another day of fun. We are heading out for a Circle Line Cruise and some good eats.
Oh. My. Goodness. Today we decided to check out Jewel Cave and Mt Rushmore.
We started out the day at Jewel Cave and spent 90 minutes on a tour if the cave in which there were lots of stairs to climb up and down. The cave was pretty cool and really interesting to learn just how massive the thing is.
We followed up our cave visit and 800+ stairs with a visit to Mt Rushmore. We did the Presidential Trail which isn’t that long of a trail but oh the stairs. Lots and lots of stairs going up up up. The buns and legs are going to be feeling this on the morning. But hey it’s worth it buns of steel right 😉
Today we headed to South Dakota to do a little site seeing. We’ve checked out some cool things already for only being here for a few hours. However, it’s been a lot of sitting in the car, and well that does little to get 15,000 steps in.
It’s 6:30 and I only have half my steps for the day in. I will get them in if it means walking in place in the hotel room, but still. Car rides and road trips were something I used to love, but now I’m sitting here thinking about all of the walking and activity I could be getting in. Needless to say every time we stop I’m jogging and trying to be as active as possible. Dang you fitbit and my obsession with you.
Tomorrow we will be doing a lot more walking around at sites so getting steps in won’t be as hard, but I definitely am no longer a fan of road trips. So much wasted time when I could be getting my steps in. Hmmmm, I wonder if I can talk the husband into getting a motor home so that while he is driving I can walk the length of the RV. Then we could road trip and I could get my steps in.
This morning I got up and made the husband come along with me to the hotel’s gym.
I did my run training Monday and yesterday so I decided I do it again today and then I’m done for the week, and won’t have to worry about fitting it in. My husband was less than thrilled about this but I said we are going. My brother and sister-in-law should be arriving any minute and so by getting it done and over with this morning we can enjoy the rest of the week and weekend without having to try and fit it in. So despite his grumbling we went and I got my run out of the way and now can enjoy the rest of the week.
Oh, and yesterday was a really good day even with being on an airplane I got in over 28,000 steps. Thank you Las Vegas Strip.
Yeah 18,000 of that is walking the strip last night. I love Vegas it’s the only place where when you enter a different building your brought to a different city and or country.

Today, it’s finally arrived. I left my house in Wyoming to make the drive to Denver to spend the night at a hotel so I could catch my early morning flight tomorrow. I checked my flight status before I left the house, and everything looked good. HA!
As, I’m a good 3 hours into my trip, my phone rings a. 800#, this can’t be good. And, well I’m right they’ve cancelled my flight. I’m then put on hold for nearly an hour. What do I do, do I keep driving, pull over, turn around and go back home? Finally, when someone gets to my call, they tell me we can get you to NY on Sunday. Well great, but I need to be there before Sunday. I ask them to try any airline and give them 8 airports to try. The best they can do is get me to Buffalo, NY late Saturday night. Uhmmmm, yeah that’s not going to work, because I’m then 7 hours from where I need to be. I tell them cancel me and refund my money.
I figure I’m only a little over an hour from Denver I might as well keep going, and I’ll go to the airline counters myself if I have to. Or, I just won’t go to NY period, if I can’t get there in time for the wedding, there really is no sense in spending all of the money to go.
I call the husband and tell him what’s going on, so he starts looking to see what he can find, and my brother calls me with flight info for JetBlue, and it won’t cost a complete arm and leg to get the ticket. I hand over the credit card info and we’ve booked me a new flight.
The only problem is I have to check out of the hotel by 2 and I don’t fly out until 12:55 am. Oh well, guess I’ll be doing some laps at the airport and hanging in the hotel lobby.
Ah Mother Nature once again you’ve gotten me.
Here’s hoping for no further cancelled flights and only arriving 17 hours later than expected.

Tomorrow I head out for my trip back home to NY, it’s been 6 long months since I’ve been home, and I can’t wait to get there. I packed my suitcase tonight and of course it’s overweight. So, tomorrow I’ll be going through the suitcase again in hopes that I can slim down the weight some more. I’m not sure there is much more I can take out. Well, at this moment I think that I need everything I have packed, of course I probably won’t use half of it.
This is so me, and you’d think I’d finally learn, but no.
